SHM – Monitoring of Cultural Heritage Assets
The importance of monitoring Cultural Heritage is highlighted within the “Guidelines for the evaluation and reduction of the seismic risk of cultural heritage – alignment with the new Technical Standards for Construction”: Periodic control of constructions is a highly desirable practice since it represents the main tool for a conscious conservation, as it allows maintenance to be scheduled and repair interventions to be carried out in time, when really necessary, in the event of structural damage, and consolidation, aimed at prevention. […] In some cases, when decay causes are well understood and safety thresholds can be defined, monitoring can represent an alternative to intervention, to the benefit of conservation.
Expin srl has gained extensive experience in monitoring the structural behaviour of protected buildings and monuments, subject to structural failure of a static and seismic nature, both in Italy and abroad.
