Pull-out tests on rods

Investigation technique that allows to determine the tensile strength of anchors or rods anchored to an existing substrate. The test is conducted using a hydraulic jack, which applies a tensile force to the rod, measured using either a pressure transducer or a load cell. The tests are carried out by applying a monotonic load until failure or until reaching the design load. The maximum force reached during the test is noted, which may coincide with a given design force or with the force exerted to generate the extraction of the inserted element, describing the failure mode (anchor extraction, cone extraction, steel yielding). Where required, force and displacement data (or force alone) can be recorded to obtain a graph of the test.
