Plaster removal
For the visual inspection of masonry elements for classification or assessment of corner connections, and where there are no specific restrictions (e.g. listed buildings), it is possible to remove the plaster or any non-structural covering (e.g. plasterboard) using mechanical or manual tools. In the case of load-bearing walls, the inspection involves scarifying the finishing layer to examine a sufficient area to identify the texture and type of wall (generally a 1 x 1 m window is made to expose the surface, or smaller if this information can be obtained with less invasiveness).
