Sampling and tensile test of bolts
The tensile test on connection elements of metal structures (bolts or rivets) from columns, beams, or rods allows the determination of the mechanical characteristics of steel (yield stress, ultimate tensile strength, and strain under maximum force). The sampling involves the removal of the connector to be tested by unscrewing the bolts, when possible, or by cutting with an angle grinder and removing the head of the bolt or rivet, followed by extraction of the stern. A bolt with an equal section compared to the one taken is then repositioned. The collected samples are cataloged with appropriate photographic documentation and subjected to a tensile test at a state-authorized laboratory.
