Sampling and analysis of stone specimens

The extraction of a representative quantity of stone is aimed at its chemical-physical characterization (mineralogical-petrographic study). Samples of the extracted stone are documented, cataloged and analyzed in thin section under a polarizing microscope. The study defines the compositional and textural characteristics of the stone by identifying its mineralogical constituents.
