2023 – Zanzibar, Tanzania – House of Wonders

The House of Wonders or Palace of Wonders is a landmark building in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It is named “House of Wonders” because it was the first building in Zanzibar to have electricity, and also the first building in East Africa to have an elevator.
Expin was contacted in order to set up and carry out an extensive diagnostic investigation campaign that could clarify the dynamics of the partial structural collapse that involved the building in 2020.
